I thought I would share my most recent DIY endeavor with all of you!  We had this huge gaping wall in the living room that I was struggling to fill up.  We can’t mount the TV on the wall because the house is a rental, so I had to work my design around that.  I came up with a gallery wall that features both shelves and photo frames.

This is a really simple project, using only 1×6’s, corner braces, and bolts.  I stained the boards and painted the hardware first, and had my husband drill the holes for the braces to attach to the boards.  We used toggle bolts to hang them securely when the shelf didn’t line up with a stud. If you are going to be putting lots of heavy items, such as books, on your shelves, I would definitely recommend that you make sure to hang them on a stud!IMG_2726 IMG_2727 IMG_2728 IMG_2787 IMG_2795 IMG_2820IMG_2823IMG_2826IMG_2827IMG_2829IMG_2830IMG_2799 IMG_2835

The Ugly Truth
