Posted on December 11, 2019 by Tasha

Nobody needs a whole planner just to write a few appointments down per week. We all have smart phones for that! So what’s with the obsession with analog planners? I’ve always been a hands on person. There is just something about physically writing something down that commits it to memory. I’ve had every kind of […]

Hi! I’m Tasha.

I’m a stay at home mom that used to get tattoos and tour the country playing bass in a rock band. Most of the music gear is sold but I still have the tattoos. These days you’ll find me spending time with my family, working as a freelance graphic designer, or writing.

Privileged and blessed to be this one’s mom. She Privileged and blessed to be this one’s mom. She’s talented in so many ways and still humble about it. If you haven’t yet, go find her new release and give it a listen.
I had no idea when I agreed to that spring break c I had no idea when I agreed to that spring break church trip our senior year of high school that I was signing up for the next 20! I distinctly remember one of the pastors telling you I was a ring shy of a life partner. (Who tells 17 & 18 year olds that?!) Our mutual friends at school were saying we’d be married. I had no idea. You had no idea. We just knew our souls matched each other. (That may be the cheesiest thing I’ve ever written.) 🖤 Consider this my sign up for the next 20 years. ✍️
Here’s my face again because this Holy Basil Lea Here’s my face again because this Holy Basil Leaf supplement is legit! Holy Basil is an adaptogenic herb (read: helps you deal with all kinds of stress, whether emotional or physical) and has antioxidant activity that supports cognitive function, digestion and more. I can seriously feel the difference when I take this! Thanks @maryruthorganics for making another effective, natural, and safe product!

Thank you to everyone who has checked on us. We were lucky to keep electricity the entire time, since we don’t have a fireplace or generator. We haven’t had water since Monday, but we had a surplus of snow that we could melt to flush toilets, and friends who have generously shared what drinking water they had. The sun is out today and roads are clearing a little so people are able to start getting out and distributing resources too.
.
We’re hanging in there and I’m so so thankful that I don’t feel alone. Our smaller community of friends and local church members have been in constant contact. Our neighborhood Facebook group is active with generosity abounding. It is definitely heartwarming to see. It also makes my heart ache because not everyone has that.
.
Please keep praying. The weather needs to warm up so everything can thaw out and go back to normal. There are people still without electricity and water. The stores are basically empty because the roads haven’t been drivable. As I type this, I got a weather alert for a hard-freeze warning... meaning the melting snow and ice will freeze again, possibly prolonging things.
A glimpse into our life this morning, and most mor A glimpse into our life this morning, and most mornings recently: Billy teaching the kids. Them falling in love with South America. Them unenthusiastically putting their own articles together for a newspaper. Imagine music by Agustín Barrios playing in the background because Billy is a lover of music and also thorough when it comes to teaching history. I’m usually doing dishes or meal prepping, which is honestly not what I’d prefer to be doing, but that’s ok. It’s not always peaceful like this because there are three kids here. Sometimes there’s crying, yelling, chaos, bribing, threatening... if you have kids you know. Sometimes my attitude sucks or Billy is stressed or etc etc. But sometimes it’s peaceful just like this. And I want to take a picture so I can remember it. I realize it is a special, unique, and privileged life in many ways. I also realize it’s easy to see what others have and want those things instead. All I know is there are seasons and nothing is forever. It may be easy tomorrow or it may be unimaginablely difficult. I find myself praying for help to live in the right now instead of looking ahead for something better. Because there’s always something that could be better. Lord help me be content, the way Paul was content when he said, “...I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” (Phil 4:11-13‬) ‭ I hope when you see this little reminder for myself, that you too remember that God is good, but also that the hard stuff can be grace too. When your day sucks (or worse), hope for better, but don’t forget contentment comes from His presence, not your circumstances. And yes, He restores the years that the locusts have eaten. (Joel 2:25) If they hadn’t been eaten would I be thankful now? He holds us through it all. 🖤 Praise the Lord!

These photos are from different times we visited the MLK memorial in DC the past few years. It’s a beautiful monument surrounded by cherry blossoms and Dr. King’s words of wisdom. Unfortunately, today that memorial is closed for fear of violence from emboldened hate groups leading up to Inauguration Day.
I don’t care for my skin like I should and as so I don’t care for my skin like I should and as someone who’s pushing 40, that’s probably not good. So of course I jumped at the chance to try out Modere Cellproof Moisturizer in exchange for an honest review, because I need a miracle product... You know, one that works even when you forget to use it? 🤷‍♀️
.
Turns out, this isn’t it. 😂 BUT it is very moisturizing without feeling greasy, smells good, has collagen and vitamin C in it, and it doesn’t break me out. That’s a win. And I’m willing to bet I’d probably see some improvements to my skin if I used it regularly. I’ll let you know if I suddenly look 10 years younger. 😉
