An imagined experience designed to showcase the power of atmospheric storytelling, The Parlour blurs the line between fiction, fashion, and immersive space.

THE PARLOUR: A MISS HAVISHAM-INSPIRED EXPERIENCE

An immersive concept built around theatrical nostalgia, forgotten beauty, and eerie opulence.

The Parlour is a conceptual styling project inspired by the haunting elegance of Miss Havisham from Great Expectations. Imagined as a pop-up presentation for a fictional avant-garde fashion designer, this experience centers around a space suspended in time—a parlor of decaying grandeur where vintage fashion, tactile storytelling, and scent-based memory converge.

Blending literary mood with immersive design, the project explores how narrative, space, and sensory details can intertwine to evoke emotion, curiosity, and connection.

THE STORY

At its core, The Parlour was an exercise in world-building—a place where visitors don’t just observe a concept, but step inside its story. Rooted in themes of longing, stillness, and faded glamour, the styling channels a bygone era through curated textures, ghostly silhouettes, and layered sensory cues.

Drawing from Victorian fashion, crumbling interiors, and the melancholic richness of Havisham herself, the fictional designer’s identity lives in the tension between beauty and decay. The goal: to craft an environment so immersive, it feels like walking through a forgotten chapter of a novel.

tHE EXPERIENCE

Though fully conceptual, this world was developed with a high level of design detail—treating the fictional as if it were tangible. Core components included:

Zine-style Lookbook
A hand-bound collection of dress images, poetry, and narrative fragments that deepened the emotional context of the story. Printed as though forgotten in a drawer, it became a lingering piece of the imagined world.

Invitation Suite
A printed collection of layered pieces that set the tone for the experience—aged paper, hand-scripted type, and subtle nods to time and disrepair.

Perfume Bottle & Scent Identity
A custom-designed scent concept called Unworn, evoking crushed velvet, wilted rose, and time-stilled air. The bottle, imagined lying delicately on aged velvet, served as a take-home token and memory anchor.

Floating Dress Vignettes
A series of ethereal, ghostlike gown mockups that gave visual life to the “residents” of the space—each dress a character, named and styled to reflect different facets of lost time and faded identity.

OUTCOME

The Parlour was never meant to be a physical installation—it was a creative exercise in building immersive, narrative-driven environments through mood, storytelling, and multisensory touchpoints. Designed as a collaboration with a fictional fashion designer, the project illustrates how deeply cohesive styling and narrative thinking can bring a fully imagined world to life.
